A week or so ago we finally visited Arundel Castle. It is close to where we live and in a lovely little village on the river Arun. We have wanted to see the castle since we arrived but waited in hopes of doing so with family. As so often happens in life, time has flown by and the boys and I have only a few weeks left, thus a visit was in order. It happened to be a rare sunny day and we were joined by some friends from the island. It is so interesting how friendships that began in the Caribbean have continued here in England and hopefully we will re-connect somewhere along this journey of med school we are all on.
Arundel Castle is still fully functioning with the family of the Duke of Norfolk currently living there.

oops mom is not going to be pleased ( Ronan only has 2 pairs of pants that he deems acceptable to wear and he just completely tore the knee in one of them). Thankfully summer is on its way and he can wear his shorts again.
the castle gardens were very beautiful
there was a small zoo on the castle grounds
this guy let us know he was in charge
beautiful sights, good friends, good food and good times.

Oh such magnificent beauty! Your pictures are just spectacular. I don't know how you managed to fit this lovely adventure in amidst all the things you must be organizing for your next move. But I am so glad you did! xo
ReplyDeleteThank You Rebecca, I think squeezing little moments in to our crazy schedule has become a most. Maybe for sanities sake. There will be another fun one to post about soon!!!!!

I love Arundel! Have only been the once and didn't make it to the castle...but the lake. The South Downs hold a special place in my heart - for they are my true home.
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous...and a little homesick.

One of the things I love about Europe is that it has such an ancient feel to it. Once you've been there and experienced things like this, nothing back in the U.S. can really compare.
