Beachy Head

After leaving Seaford we headed to Beachy Head.

Seven Sisters - the chimneys are the coastguard cottages

Eastbourne from Beachy Head

Beachy Head was a beautiful spot although a little nerve wracking with the strong winds.

Busy, Busy & Some Yarn

The boys have been keeping busy with their plasticine, modeling clay and mini figure painting - I have been madly knitting a gift for a wee one due to arrive any day now.

modeling clay

the plasticine creatures were duplicating very quickly

the boys started classes that teach them how to paint the mini figures in their Hobbit strategy game

it is amazing to watch them so focused on detail for 2 hours

friends of ours are awaiting the arrival of their first any day now which lead me to some mad knitting sessions

Some have asked about where I found some of my yarn so I will fill you all in here.  The newborn hat and sweater are a blend of wool, linen, and acrylic from the Wool Bar which is down the street.

all three of these yarns were picked up at a yarn store in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The blue and green hats were Merino Stripes (Crystal Palace Yarns) 90% Merino and 10% Acrylic.  The multi colored hat is Mochi Plus (also Crystal Palace Yarns) 80% Merino and 20% Nylon.  Patterns are all from Ravelry and partially made up.

this cowl was made with 100% handspun wool from Mancos, Colorado.  My sister gave me the yarn and the pattern was mostly made up.

We Headed East

the sun was supposed to shine and we had no plans.  time to rent a car and head east to see what we may find

Seaford was the first stop of the day - hot chocolate, ice cream, muffins and coffee.  A walk along the beach and beginning of the beautiful white cliffs.

His Silhouette

the photo may be simple, but it means so much more

this last weekend I clicked away and when I caught a glimpse of this one on the computer it had something to say.  His silhouette is no longer what my mind recognizes.  It is taller, it takes up more space. In contrast to the horizon it is showing me a boy who is growing up, one who stands above it.  No longer just a little one playing by the sea.
This awareness first came to me over the holidays, but has become real with this photo.  While standing on the beach in Morocco I tried to find Dillon in the surf line up and I kept looking for the little boy I would watch while we were on the island and I could not spot him.  I then realized his silhouette in the water had grown up.  He sat tall and confident on his board, his shoulders broad and strong, his gaze intent on finding the next wave.  Even how he carried himself was different then the young boy who moved to the island a few years ago.  Repeatedly I will glimpse at him and ask myself "when did this happen?"  He may be growing older, growing bigger but he will always be my sweet little boy, my first born.
