A SLOW Ride Home

Driving home at the end of a long weekend in Colorado usually meant at least some traffic - BUT this was a whole different story.  During the three years we were out of the country the population in Colorado has exploded.  Slowly we are seeing all our peaceful places over run and we face mobs of people and lines of traffic.  It seems as though there was a reason Michael was matched to the Wyoming program.  Someone knew that it was time for us to move on and spend more time in a place with less people.  We were thankful for the beautiful scenery on our 12 PLUS hour drive home but really could have done with less cars.

We meandered our way South to North, arriving home just after catching a beautiful sunset over the Rocky Mountains

Family Camping

For the long weekend we headed North to Southern Colorado
This just might have become an annual family camping trip (it seems for at least the last 3 years the boys and I camp with Oma, Papa, Hopi, Anna, and Sophia (this year we also got Carith to join us) - plus whoever else can make it that year)
We wanted cool air and refreshing water
It is great to have our kayaks back to play with
A stunning fire works show in a high mountain town
Kids shrieking and laughing in the water
MOSQUITOS (what is summer without them)
Lightening, thunder, rain, and hail - as expected at high altitude in Colorado
Catching the vanilla scent of the Ponderosa Pine
The smell of campfire
Thank you to the whole family for the fun camping weekend!!!!!!!
